The 2021/22 Floral Forecast

At South West Event Studio, we believe in flower power! And by that, we mean that floral arrangements have the power to completely transform a simple space into something spectacular.

We’re proud to collaborate with the most talented florists in the South West. So, to help inspire your big day blooms, we’ve interviewed some of our favourite florists in the region about the budding trends of the upcoming wedding season. Here’s your floral forecast from the flower experts:

Bold and Beautiful

Nardine from Scentiment Flowers @scentiment_flowers believes that the décor of your big day should reflect your personality, likes and colours that have a sentimental value to you, she’s hoping that bold and beautiful colour combinations will make an appearance in the coming wedding seasons. Nardine’s top tip for your vivid and lively colour scheme is: “Don’t hesitate to pair glints of metallics with your bright hues!”

Colours:

When it comes to making a bold statement on your big day, you can choose from a kaleidoscope of colour combinations, including rich reds and hot pinks, warm oranges and lush teals, cool lilacs and moody blacks, sage greens and terracotta hues, and the sunniest of mustard yellows, peaches and whites.

Flowers:

“Nature has gifted us with so many stunning flowers and colours, there are endless opportunities to include colour in your wedding styling” says Nardine. Her personal favourite flowers for colour include garden roses, orchids, anthurium, dahlia, chrysanthemums, carnations, delphinium, stock and the stunning emerald greens of ferns, camelia and magnolia foliage.

Tablescape Tip

To compliment a bold tablescape with rich reds and warm oranges we recommend our 100% Pure Linen Napkins in Marsala and a Neutral Crockery option like Earthenware in Natural.

Boho Chic

Elli Paige @flowersbyellipaige anticipates that the boho vibe will continue to boom in the upcoming season. “I personally love the Boho look. The ceremonies often feature big statement pieces that can then be re-purposed at the reception” says Elli.

Colours:

When it comes to boho friendly colours, Elli recommends creams, whites with pops of peach and toffee.

Flowers:

Elli suggests keeping your boho blooms simple with roses, smaller palms and pampas. “I do love mixing in some natural banksias, white poppies or white scabiosa for a feminine touch” she says.

Tablescape Tip

100% Pure Linen in Natural Flax is the perfect accompaniment for this look or perhaps our beautiful range of Blush toned gauze & cotton runners down the centre of your tables…

Modern Flavours

Lara Rose @lararose_botanicalstylist is anticipating the blending of Boho and sustainable concepts with a modern and edgy twist. “There is a slow but steady uptake of clients choosing sustainable options and thinking outside the box with different and edgy concepts” she says.

Colours:

When combining a natural and modern colour scheme, there’s room to play around and have some fun with it. Start with a neutral or pastel base, and build on it with accents of bright, funky hues.

Flowers:

Lara Rose recommends embracing seasonal and locally grown blooms to get the most out of your floral arrangements. Blushing bride, honesty, white anemone and baby’s breath are great choices for a Spring wedding with a natural and neutral base. To add in pops of colour, she recommends amaranthus, waratah and tulips.

Sustainably Stunning

Adele at Wildart Floral @wildartfloral is excited by the increase in popularity of the sustainable approach to weddings, which involves sourcing stunning locally grown produce to fit your colour scheme and style. “I have had several clients approach me recently wanting locally grown produce to minimise their carbon footprint for their special day” she says.

Colours:

Complementing the natural, rustic and sustainable feel, opting for burgundy, rust and brown tones is a great idea when it comes to your floral arrangements and overall decor. “Plus, these deeper colours look incredible in front of a wedding dress!” says Adele.

Flowers:

Adele recommends featuring proteas in your sustainable wedding theme, which also happen to be Wildart Floral’s signature flower! “Our proteas are literally picked the day before the wedding and can also be dried out and displayed for years to come! They are a stunning flower, particularly the king protea which creates that ‘wow’ factor” she says.

Leucadendrons, silver tree and olive leaf complement proteas perfectly, and work together to create stunning rustic-looking arrangements.
